Bio
Silvio Osella is an associate professor at the Centre of New Technologies, University of Warsaw. He obtained his PhD at the Laboratory of Chemistry of Novel Materials, University of Mons (Belgium) in the group of Prof David Beljonne (2011-2014), followed by postdoctoral research position at the University of Mons (Belgium) in the group of Prof David Beljonne (2014-2015) and at the Theoretical Chemistry & Biology Laboratory, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) under the supervision of Dr Stefan Knippenberg and Prof Hans Aagren (2015-2016), before reaching the Centre of New Technologies, University of Warsaw (2017) where he obtained its habilitation in 2022.
His research focuses on multiscale computational methods to study (i) novel 2D functional materials for photovoltaic applications and (photo)electrochemical solar-fuel production mainly focusing on the conversion of CO2 into more valuable chemicals, especially focusing on 2D-MOF and single atom catalysts (SACs); (ii) (non)-linear and fluorescent optical properties of fluorescent molecules in biological environments like lipid bilayer membranes and proteins; (iii) optoelectronic and transport properties of low dimensional materials and their assembly to enhance the direct electron transport along heterojunction interfaces.
